Introduction of Instrument

Surface tensiometer, is a measurement instrument specially used to measure the surface tension value of liquids, mainly through the principles of platinum plate method, platinum ring method, large bubble method, suspension drop method, drop volume method and drop weight method, the measurement of liquid surface tension value.

The surface tensiometer model of this platform is DCAT25, It is a multifunctional surface tensiometer that It can apply ring and sheet methods to measure the surface/interfacial tension of liquids; It can also perform adhesion measurements on the surface of superhydrophobic materials and dynamic contact angle measurements of solid materials.

Working Principle

A probe is hung on a balance and comes into contact with the interface of the liquid under test, and as the probe interacts with the surface of the liquid, the forces experienced by the balance can be used to calculate surface tension. This instrument is based on the balance weight method, with the option of platinum plate method or platinum ring method of measurement. Adhesion force represents the force required to separate a droplet from the surface it is in contact with, and the test sample is typically a superhydrophobic material, which provides a way to quantify attractive interactions between liquids and solids. The dynamic contact angle is measured by the weighing method.

Notices

1. Before each use, it needs to be turned on and preheated for half an hour,If no one finishes testing later, it can be turned off.

2. It is forbidden to put anything on top of the instrument, otherwise it will affect the balance.

3. Be careful when using the platinum sheet/ring, do not touch anything, any deformation of the platinum ring can no longer be used.

4. Before testing the platinum plate/ring for tension measurement, rinse it with ethanol, then clean it with distilled water, and finally burn it with an alcohol lamp. After testing, clean it with water, burn it with an alcohol lamp, and place it in a fixed box.

5. The cuvette needs to be cleaned with water before the test, note that it cannot be cleaned with surfactant type.

6. When inserting the rod must be operated in the balance lock state.

7. Avoid all vibrations on the desktop, and testers should not touch the desktop during testing.
