On Oct. 21, 2021, Prof. Tie Wang invited Dr. Jipei Yuan, an editor of the MATERIALS journal of Wiley Press to give us a talk entitled "Publishing in Wiley Materials Science Journals". It was a popular report and attracted teachers and students from the Life and Health Intelligent Research Institute and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering attending the meeting.

Dr. Yuan introduced the process of manuscript processing in Wiley Materials Science Journal from the editor's perspective: initial review of manuscripts, finding reviewers, and making decisions on manuscripts after receiving reviewers' comments. During theprocess of review, the most important criterion for the editor evaluating a manuscript is the significance of the paper to the readers. The cover letter should be short, and including the importance of the research, the significance of the research results, the breakthrough or the innovation of the research. In addition, the progress in comparison to the published work and the reason of submission to the journal should be also illustrated. Finally, Dr. Yuan gave some suggestions on points for attention and the corresponding solutions during the submission.

After the report, the participating teachers and students discussed with Dr. Yuan on the topic which they interested or doubted, and gained a deeper understanding in writing and submitting scientific papers. The teachers and students learned a lot under this kind of strong academic atmosphere.
